Whether your skin throws a tantrum every time you dare to try out a new serum or your T-zone seems completely immune to any and every setting powder out there, we've all got our skin bugbears. And unfortunately, it could be your bad beauty habits that are making them worse

1. THOU SHALT NOT SMOKE

If you wont quit for your heart and lungs, quit for the sake of vanity.When you smoke, you diminish the skin's ability to get the oxygen it needs. Without optimal oxygen, skin cells can't renew themselves. It accelerates the wrinkling process by damaging the skin and impeding the repair of your skin. In addition to vertical lines and wrinkles around the mouth, your skin overall will look lackluster and dull.

2. THOU SHALT NOT USE TANNING BED

There is nothing healthy about the “glow” of tanned skin. Tanned skin is damaged skin, no matter your age or skin type.Tanning is associated with Skin cancers including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma,Cancer of the eye (ocular melanoma),Cataracts and other potentially blinding eye diseases,Premature aging,Immune system suppression.

3. THOU SHALT NOT OVER-EXFOLIATE

Over-scrubbing your face. As with ditching the moisturiser, washing your face with a harsh scrub to eliminate grease is actually doing you more harm than good. Over-exfoliating strips your skin of its natural oils and just like above, your skin will react by producing even more.


4. THOU SHALT NOT STRESS

When your body is stressed, it pours out a stress hormone called cortisol. This causes a multitude of things. It robs the skin of its blood supply and can elevate blood sugar, which can cause cells to function abnormally. It can also affect acne oil glands. So bottom line, when you stress out your skin may be more prone to breakouts and is likely to look dull and sallow.

5. THOU SHALT NOT SKIP SLEEP

There is no way you can look great if you are sleep deprived. When your body is fighting to say awake muscle tone relaxes so you look saggy, blood pressure drops which robs skin of color and you're prone to puffiness due to poor circulation. Yet more reasons to get the recommended seven to eight hours of sleep a night.

6. THOU SHALT NOT WEAR MAKEUP TO BED

At night is when all of your skin rejuvenation happens. If you wear makeup to bed your skin can't get the oxygen it needs. When skin is suffocated,your natural collagen building process is compromised ,it will also clog pores and act as food for bacteria, which can cause breakouts and make pores more visible.

7. THOU SHALT NO GO IN ON THE POWDER

Going in on the powder might seem like your best friend if you have oily skin, but using it to soak up oil every five minutes is not the solution and could lead to blocked pores and breakouts.Carry some blotting papers on you, as these will lift oil from your face instead of blocking it.

8. THOU SHALT NOT AVOID THE DERMATOLOGIST

Getting a complete skin exam once a year is essential to your overall health because it can help prevent serious issues, like skin cancer.

9. THOU SHALT ALWAYS MOISTURIZE

Skipping moisturizer might feel like your face doesn’t need it, but cutting out moisturizer can cause your skin to dry out and overcompensate by producing even more oil.Keep an eye out for oil-free, non-comedogenic moisturisers and get into a routine. Non-comedogenic basically means your pores won’t get blocked.

10. THOU SHALT ALWAYS WEAR SUN PROTECTION

Skipping sun cream might feel like a chore when you're in a rush to leave the house in the morning, but irritable skin usually has a heightened sensitivity to the sun.Never go below SPF 30, and look for physical sun creams that contain minerals such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide.These will irritate skin less than chemical sun creams.
